Through MORPHOGENESIS, eleven teams explore the generation and transformation of sound, and the emergence of new forms from different perspectives.
Each work offers a different relationship between electronic sound, live performance, space, movement and visuals.

ACCRETER
Accretion
Music and visuals trace the formation of a planet as cosmic dust and gas gather together. Piano performance and hand gestures transform TouchDesigner particles, shaping the flow of accretion.

The Sound of Existence / Prime / Rest / Saudade
Four works explore the morphogenesis of a life, moving through birth, growth, stability and longing. Analog synthesizers, wavetables and sounds recorded by the team are combined with live performance.

Alpha & Omega
An interlocking cycle of beginnings and endings expresses emergence, repetition, differentiation and growth through music. Three performers create and control not only melody, rhythm and harmony, but also space and timbre in real time.

Black Magic
The story of a child who acquires magical powers and a dark shadow unfolds through music and live-coded visuals. A sensor-equipped magic wand, vocoder processing of a triangle, and web-based scene control connect the narrative.

Charging Time (충전시간)
Electrical changes triggered by the body's contact with a circuit meet the rules of cellular automata and grow into sound and images. Two performers improvise with contact and rules, shaping a progression of generation, differentiation, and emergence.

Entropy Bloom
Values from a logistic map are mapped to rhythm, pitch, and harmonics to explore how musical patterns grow out of chaos. Kyma, Max/MSP, Leap Motion, and MIDI controllers shape the changing sound in real time.

Maenangukjuk (梅蘭菊竹)
Plum blossom, orchid, chrysanthemum, and bamboo become a progression of beginnings, formation, change, and expansion. Piano, flute, and orchestration evolve into a live synthesizer and four-channel spatial control, extending the form of sound.

Natural Selection
The evolutionary principle of natural selection is explored through Electronic Disco. Within Digitakt's repeating 16-step structure, individual sounds mutate and are selected, creating new musical forms in real time.

Mang (望)
The Moon’s passage from new moon to full moon and back is expressed through the accumulation and reduction of sonic layers. Lunar data and head movements become sound, tracing an orbit through a four-channel space.

Be Born
A tiny movement beginning in a single cell gradually becomes a living being. Ambient sound, piano, handbells and cello connect with bodily movement and four-channel spatial control.

Three pieces explore emergence, recurring patterns in nature and gradual transformation. Shifting meters, dynamics, laid-back grooves, funk and smooth jazz express the formation of form and order through changes in performance.
